Important News for CAF Donors: Vouchers and CharityCards Ending Soon
How to use your CAF vouchers before the 1st May 2026 deadline, plus other simple ways to support hospice care
If you’ve been a loyal supporter of Hospice Aid UK through the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) voucher or CharityCard scheme, we have some important news to share with you.
CAF has announced that it is phasing out both CAF Vouchers and CAF CharityCards. The key date to remember is 1st May 2026 – after this date, donors will no longer be able to use these methods to make donations. Charities then have until 1st August 2026 to process any vouchers they’ve received.
We know many of our wonderful supporters have used CAF vouchers and CharityCards to donate over the years. It’s been a trusted and tax-efficient way to give, and we’re so grateful for every donation that has helped fund vital hospice care across the UK.
For full details about the phase-out, you can visit CAF’s FAQ page.
What You Need to Do
If you have any CAF vouchers tucked away in a drawer or wallet, or if you regularly use your CAF CharityCard, now is the time to act. Here’s how you can ensure your donation reaches the hospices that need it most before the deadline:
Send your vouchers to us by post
Simply make your CAF voucher payable to Hospice Aid UK and post it to:
Hospice Aid UK
1st Floor
48 Chancery Lane
London
WC2A 1JF
We’ll process your voucher and ensure every penny goes towards supporting hospices providing exceptional end-of-life care and respite services.
Use your CAF CharityCard before 1st May
You can still donate using your CAF CharityCard through the CAF website until the deadline. Search for “Hospice Aid UK” on cafonline.org to make your donation directly. If you have funds remaining in your CAF Charity Account after the CharityCard is phased out, you’ll still be able to donate online or by phone through CAF.
Contact us if you’re unsure
If you have questions about your CAF vouchers or CharityCard, or how to donate to Hospice Aid UK, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to help and want to make sure your generous gift reaches those who need it.
Why Does This Matter?
Every CAF voucher and CharityCard donation we receive helps fund essential equipment, training, and support for hospices throughout the UK. These hospices provide care that many families describe as life-changing, not just for patients but for their loved ones too.
The specialist recliner chairs that allow patients to rest comfortably with their families. The bereavement counselling that helps people through the darkest of times. The respite care that gives exhausted carers a much-needed break. Your CAF vouchers have helped make all of this possible.
Other Ways to Support Hospice Aid UK
While the end of CAF vouchers might feel like the closing of a chapter, there are still plenty of easy ways to continue supporting our work. In fact, some of these methods are even more straightforward than before.
Online donations
The quickest way to give is through our website. You can make a one-off donation or set up a regular gift that provides ongoing support for hospices. If you’re a UK taxpayer, ticking the Gift Aid box means we can claim an extra 25p for every pound you give, at no extra cost to you.
Standing order or Direct Debit
Regular giving is incredibly valuable to charities like ours. Even a small monthly amount helps us plan ahead and commit to supporting hospices throughout the year. A standing order of £5 a month might not sound like much, but over a year it adds up to £60 of hospice support.
Bank transfer
If you prefer to donate directly from your bank account, you can do so using our bank details. Please contact us for these details and remember to include your name as a reference so we can thank you properly.
Cheque
Yes, cheques are still welcome! Make your cheque payable to Hospice Aid UK and post it to our address.
Payroll giving (Give As You Earn)
If your employer offers a payroll giving scheme, this is a brilliantly tax-efficient way to donate. Your gift comes out of your pre-tax salary, which means it costs you less while we receive the full amount.
Legacy gifts
Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most meaningful ways to support hospice care for generations to come. It doesn’t affect your estate during your lifetime, and even a small percentage can make an enormous difference.
A Sincere Thank You
To everyone who has supported Hospice Aid UK through CAF vouchers and CharityCards over the years, we want to say a heartfelt thank you. Your donations have helped us distribute thousands of pounds in urgent grants, supporting hundreds of hospices across the country.
The way we give may be changing, but the need for hospice support remains constant. If you’ve been meaning to use those CAF vouchers sitting in your home, or want to make one final CharityCard donation, please do so before 1st May 2026. And if you’re looking for a new way to continue your support, we’d love to hear from you.
Together, we can ensure that hospices continue to provide the compassionate care that every patient and family deserves.
